On-Site Content Model

The 3×3 Rule: A Simple On-Site Content System for Contractors
Most contractors don’t struggle because they’re bad at what they do.
They struggle because no one can see how good they are.
You finish great work every week. Clean installs. Solid craftsmanship. Happy clients.
But once the job is done, it disappears. No record. No proof. No marketing.
That’s where most service businesses lose.
Not because of poor work…
But because of poor documentation.
So instead of telling you to “create content” (which feels like extra work), here’s a better way:
Don’t create. Document.
And to make it simple enough for your team to actually follow, we turn it into one system:
The 3×3 Rule
Three simple rules.
Each with three actions.
That’s it.
No overthinking. No marketing jargon. Just a repeatable process your crew can follow on-site.
Rule 1: The 3-Photo Rule
(Show what happened in one glance)
Every project should have three photos. No exceptions.
1. The Problem (Before)
This is the “why the job exists.”
- The leaking ceiling
- The cracked tiles
- The mold on the wall
- The outdated kitchen
This is what makes someone stop scrolling.
Because your next client is probably dealing with the same issue.
2. The Process (In Progress)
This is where most contractors miss.
Show your team working:
- Floor protection laid out
- Tools organized
- Surfaces prepped properly
- Clean and controlled work area
This is what separates you from apprentices
It tells the client:
“These guys know what they’re doing.”
3. The Result (After)
This is your hero shot.
- Clean
- Well-lit
- Straight angles
- No clutter
This is what people share.
This is what gets saved.
This is what gets you calls.
👉 If your team only does this consistently, your marketing already improves.
Rule 2: The 3-Video Rule
(Show the truth behind the work)
Photos show results.
Video builds trust.
And in service businesses, trust is everything.
Each project should have three short videos:
1. The Problem Video
Simple walkthrough.
Talk like you’re explaining to a client:
“Here we had water damage from a slow leak… the wood underneath is already starting to rot…”
No acting. No scripts. Just explain.
2. The Process Video
Behind-the-scenes.
Show:
- How you install
- How you measure
- How you fix the issue properly
This is where you prove your skill.
Most competitors won’t show this.
That’s your advantage.
3. The Transformation Video
This is the emotional part.
Walk through the finished project.
- Open the door
- Show the space
- Let the camera move naturally
If the client is happy, even better—capture that moment.
This is what makes someone say:
“I want this for my home.”
👉 If photos bring attention, video brings decisions.
Rule 3: The 3-Distribution Rule
(Make sure people actually see your work)
Taking content is only half the job.
If you don’t post it properly, it’s wasted.
Here’s where it goes:
1. Short Videos (Reels / TikTok / Shorts)
15–30 seconds.
- Before → After
- Quick process clips
- Fast, engaging
This is how people discover you.
This is reach.
2. Long Video (YouTube / Facebook)
5–10 minutes.
Break down the project:
- What the problem was
- What you did
- Why you did it that way
This builds authority.
When someone is researching, this is what convinces them you’re the right person.
3. The On-Site Video (Google Business Profile)
This is the most overlooked one—and one of the most powerful.
While still on-site, record a quick video (under 60 seconds) and upload it to your Google Business Profile.
Why this matters:
- It’s location-based
- It shows Google you are active
- It builds trust before someone even calls
When someone searches:
“plumber near me”
or
“contractor in Nairobi”
This kind of content helps you show up stronger.
👉 This is how your work turns into visibility.
Why This Model Works
Because it fits into how you already work.
You’re not hiring a camera crew.
You’re not stopping work to “film content.”
You’re simply:
- Taking a few photos
- Recording a few clips
- Posting them in the right places
That’s it.
How to Implement This With Your Team
This only works if it becomes a habit.
So keep it simple:
- Assign responsibility (usually the foreman)
- Make it a daily requirement
- Create a WhatsApp group for uploads
- Review weekly
You don’t need perfection.
You need consistency.
What Happens When You Do This Right
After a few weeks:
- You have a library of real projects
- Your social pages start looking active
- Clients begin to trust you before calling
After a few months:
- More inbound leads
- Better quality clients
- Less price negotiation
Because people have already seen your work.
Our Belief in the On-site Content Model
Most contractors are already doing great work.
They just don’t show it.
If you follow the 3×3 Rule, you won’t need to chase clients as much.
Your work will start speaking for you.
And in this industry, that’s what wins.
